City/County Commissions (Southern California)

This is a list of policy-making bodies housed within city and county agencies, usually charged with making recommendations to local governments on how to direct anti-gang efforts in their communities.  Also included are county collaboratives and specialized units or programs within mayors’ offices or county administrative offices.


Interagency Gang Task Force (Los Angeles County)

The Interagency Gang Task Force (IGTF) is a standing subcommittee of the Countywide Criminal Justice Coordination Committee (CCJCC). It was established in the late 1980’s to address escalating gang crime and violence in Los Angeles County.  The mission of the Los Angeles County Interagency Gang Task Force is to develop cooperative strategies to prevent and reduce the problem of gang violence in Los Angeles County. The Task Force fosters communication and cooperation among its participating agencies, and advises the CCJCC and the Los Angles County Board of Supervisors on street gang trends, system needs, and related problems and solutions.  The IGTF consists of representatives from criminal justice organizations and community-based organizations and meets monthly to discuss strategies to reduce gang violence and crime.

North County Gang Commission (San Diego County)

A seven-member regional board that will work with local law enforcement from multiple jurisdictions and nonprofit organizations to create after-school programs and workforce training and pursue grant funding.

City of San Diego Commission for Gang Prevention and Intervention

The Commission on Gang Prevention & Intervention serves as an official advisory body to the Mayor and City Council on policy issues relating to gang prevention and intervention.  The Commission's vision is to develop a more strategic, coordinated, and collaborative effort between the City, law enforcement agencies, social service providers, and the general public with the objective of significantly curtailing gang involvement, and its negative impact, in the City of San Diego.

City of Santa Clarita Anti-Gang Task Force

Since 1991, the City’s Anti-Gang Task Force (AGTF) has worked to end gang violence and crime in Santa Clarita through partnerships, proactive programming, and networking.  The Task Force is currently operated out of the City of Santa Clarita Community Services Division.
