Grant Funding Opportunities

An important part of the mission of the former Office of Gang and Youth Violence Policy (OGYVP) was to track grant programs and funding opportunities available to local communities in California.  Several current grants are highlighted in the table below.  To explore other grant funding agencies and organizations, click on the links listed to the left (State, Federal, Foundations and Other).

CalGRIP Grant Programs

The California Gang Reduction, Intervention and Prevention (CalGRIP) Initiative supports two major grant programs:

1) Prevention, Intervention and Suppression
The California Emergency Management Agency (Cal EMA) administers one CalGRIP grant program, which provides funds to California cities for the implementation of proven and promising prevention, intervention and suppression strategies.  Cal EMA released the fifth and most recent CalGRIP Request for Proposal (RFP) in December and proposals are due by January 12, 2012.

2) Job Training and Workforce Development
The California Labor and Workforce Development Agency, through the Employment Development Department, also administers a CalGRIP grant program, which provides funds for local organizations to implement job training, employment readiness and workforce development activities.  EDD released its fourth and most recent Solicitation for Proposal (SFP) on December 30, 2010.  Grant recipients were announced on March 23, 2011.  Read the Press Release.
